Innovative Healthcare Startup, NaturalPad develops and distributes Medimoov in nursing homes or elderly community centers, Teaching Hospitals, and for home usage.

MediMoov is a video game based platform that uses adapted physical activity movements to improve the user’s range of mobility, especially targeted for elderly users.

Our games are designed with Health professionals and systematically validated via clinical trials.

NaturalPad proposes MediMoov: a physio gaming web platform for physiotherapists, occupational therapist and care givers that work at HIS.

We propose, unlike the exergames general public (Wii, Xbox + Kinect, etc), a playful solution truly adapted to the elderly, patients recovering/suffering from movement difficulties, and medical personnel.  MediMoov is a unique rehabilitation tool because it has a simple video game setting and is easy to use.  Additionally, it adapts to each user’s range of movement ability, such that patients and residents can be maximally stimulated.

Strengthened by a cognitive and physical work, our tools favor the social bond with accompanying persons. Thanks to this, users get real capacity gains that have been demonstrated by a clinical study.

DiaDom Tec, aims to improve care and follow-up for patients by offering them, as well as healthcare professionals, new services and products related to new technologies.

An innovative tool for diagnosis, follow-up and therapeutic support for patients.

Users of manual wheelchairs are particularly vulnerable to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) in the upper limbs. MSD manifest themselves through various pathologies that affect the muscles, tendons, nerves and joints. For example, all the following upper limbs can be affected by MSD: neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands and fingers (cervicalgia, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc).

MSD of the upper limbs frequently occur after wheelchair usage.  Moreover, certain “risky” situations, such as obstacle clearance, transfer, propulsion, and loading can increase the likelihood of injury.

With the founding of Garches, our goal is to develop and clinically test, a tool that measures and predicts the occurrence of MSD risk for FRM users; this device is targeted for both health professionals and patients.

Using real-time video capture, actual FRM user movements are recorded such that our software can visualize, measure, quantify and analyze human movement (gestures and postures).

The kinematic data collected (position, angle, velocity and acceleration) are instantly processed in order to immediately provide the following information:

• Both detailed and comprehensive analysis of gestures and postures,
• Identification (by video, 3D, and imaging) of the risk of upper limb injuries at the articular level,
• Quotation using a biomechanical index of joint discomfort,
• Interpretation of movement.

On the basis of this comprehensive and in-depth information, our common objective is to provide experts’ recommendations in the long term, which will be valuable aids for diagnosis, optimization of manual wheelchairs (FRM), planning of a therapeutic program, Follow the progress of rehabilitation etc.

History

EuroStim is a newly -2018- created private research and development laboratory specialized in the study of the impact of electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields on human physiology and on the central nervous system. It benefits from the expertise for 15 years research activities of its founder, Alexandre Legros, internationally recognized with his team at EuroMov (University of Montpellier) and at the Lawson Health Research Institute (London , ON, Canada) in the field of studying the neurophysiological effects of magnetic induction on human performance and the nervous system. R&D work supported and funded by academic (Canadian Institutes of Health Research -Canada-, MITACS -Canada-, DRDC -Canada-) and private partners (Electricité de France -France-, Réseau de Transport d’Électricité -France-, ARMATEC -Canada-, Hydro-Québec -Canada-, Electric Power Research Institute -USA-, National Grid -UK-).

Current developments

Fluctuating magnetic fields (MF) induce electric fields and currents in conductive tissues (i.e. magnetic induction). Above a certain threshold, these induced fields and currents will interfere with the physiological local electric activity, which is critical especially when neuronal tissues are involved. The level of time-varying MF stimuli involved in our current projects can produce electric fields equivalent to those delivered by transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS). These stimuli can generate acute neuromodulatory effects impacting both perceptive (e.g. induction of visual perceptions called magnetophosphenes) and motor (e.g. variations in standing balance) modalities. There are also evidences of possible impacts on synaptic plasticity through the modulation of Long Term Potentiation and Depression (LTP and LDP), which can be investigated using both experimental and theoretical approaches.
